Success for Carpenter leads to Training the Community

Located in Suai Vila in the district of Covalima Raimundo Assa, a Timorese man run one of the few carpentry businesses in Covalima, Cova Rua Diak Unipesoal Lda. The business, established in 2000 with 3 Timorese employees produce home and office furniture and other related items requested in the district. PDT Matchmaking team in Covalima linked Raimundo Assa to the Justice Division of the Dutch federal organization The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) in July 2009. The team received a request for 78 tables, with a dollar value of US$ 76 per table, for traditional houses in Covalima.

The skills of Raimundo Assa and his employees are greatly requested, a demand that has inspired Raimundo to give training to the community. The carpentry training will run for two weeks, training 20 youths from Covalima, starting as soon as the space for training that is now being constructed is ready.
