Lovisa Havdelin

Lovisa Fhager Havdelin joined PDT’s New York City office in March 2009. Prior to joining PDT, Lovisa worked as an external analyst and project coordinator for Médecins Sans Frontières in Sweden. She has also interned with the Swedish Embassy in Ottawa and has worked with UNICEF, Amnesty International, the Red Cross and Save the Children. Lovisa holds a master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Lund, Sweden. Her particular academic areas of interest are aid effectiveness and human rights.

Buyer Workshop in the District of Bobonaro

On August 4, 2010 Peace Dividend Trust (PDT) the local government and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) for the Bobonaro district conducted a one day workshop for potential buyers of local goods. The aim of the event was to share information about goods and services and research if there is a demand for agricultural products from buyers within or outside Timor-Leste.

With 78,896 unique views the Peace Dividend Marketplace online business portal www.buy-in-timor.org now has more 100,000 hits registered. This business portal features over 2,600 verified domestic profiles organized by sector and location, enabling international organization and buyers to gain quick and easy access to local suppliers. Peace Dividend Marketplace staff regularly verify and add new businesses to ensure information is accurate and representative of Timor-Leste’s growing private sector.

Bad news. Our high-impact and award-winning Marketplace project in Timor-Leste is shutting down due to a cut in donor funding

Effective 1 July 2010 the award-winning Timor Marketplace project, and the “Buy Local, Build Timor-Leste” campaign operated by Peace Dividend Trust (PDT) will begin to phase out. Although the project has successfully redirected over $16m to Timorese entrepreneurs, it will be closing due to a lack of funding. Unless additional donor support can be found, PDT will regrettably cease activities later in the year.
