Summer 2011: Thank you Emily, Aaron & Ashley
Peace Dividend Trust’s New York City office bid its interns farewell last night. It was bittersweet on in the fierce competition to see “Who’s Got Talent.”
Emily Allen, an in-going senior at Bryn Mawr, dazzled us with her Francoise Hardy-inspired song performance – in French. That was no surprise, however. Emily’s dazzle helped PDT take important steps this summer. She was, as Chief Development Officer Kailee Scales says, “instrumental in strategic planning for the development team. She created tracking tools and assisted the team in task management.” Emily also has the best laugh. Future woman leader in the making.
Laughing is how Tuft’s Fletcher School powerhouse Aaron Morris tried to wow us at last night’s talent show. Little did we know what was underneath that affable rigor and enormous intellect that helped PDT Economist Lucy Heady and PDT Project Director Jenna Slotin research Liberian supply chains, design surveys and, “teach us more than we ever thought possible about Excel,” says Heady. And, “his powers of concentration are phenomenal.” They were. Aaron listed all the Presidents in sequential order without pause. Wonder if any of the current candidates can do that? Aaron was Peace Dividend Trust’s 1st Fellow – he will be a tremendously hard act to follow.
Sadly we didn’t get to see the talents of Ashley Grimes on display. No doubt there are many. But there are global issues to tackle, which is exactly what she was in the pursuit of last night – taking class at NYU. If Ashley were at the competition last night, no doubt she would have given a jaw-dropping rendition of Cats… Anyone who can herd all the various components of PDT’s marketing and communications would surely rock that. That’s exactly what Ashley’s done. With her warm smile and cheer, she’s helped put PDT on a track to success. Interns are always key in small office, non-profits and start-ups, adding tremendous value and assistance.
The entire team at PDT can honestly say that Emily, Aaron and Ashley did so and more. A pleasure to have all three, who seemed to take in stride deadlines and last minute requests. A heartfelt thank you. We wish them success – Emily who heads into her senior year at Bryn Mawr, Aaron who will finish up his graduate degree at Tuft’s and Ashley who will be finalizing her Master’s in Global Development at NYU. Here are more photos from the night!
