δῶς μοι πᾶ στῶ καὶ τὰν γᾶν κινάσω*
Sitting in a roadside warung deep in Central Kalimantan this morning, debating project design with my long-time co-conspirators and friends Jennifer Holt and Edward Rees, I was suddenly overwhelmed with a deep sense of gratitude.
By any measure, I have much to be grateful for. But chief among these is my outrageous good fortune in being able to work with such remarkable people. I am constantly amazed by their cleverness, their indefatigable humor, and their preternatural ability to change the world around them.
This week Building Markets staff were faced with serious challenges at several of our offices around the world. In every case they reacted strongly and smartly, while I merely marveled at their ingenuity from the small screen of my mud-splattered blackberry. With people like this, people like Jennifer and Edward (and Jenna and Ainsley and Phil and Janet and Morgan and everyone) , who can do anything and choose to do this and do it so well, all things are possible.
The point of this post is to say thank you to this amazing team, and to suggest that when great people come together, they can move the earth.
*δῶς μοι πᾶ στῶ καὶ τὰν γᾶν κινάσω: From Archimedes “Give me a lever and the place to stand, and I shall move the earth.”
