March Quarterly Update
2013 started off with a bang: these past few months saw the launch of a new SMI in Myanmar, as well as the successful continuation of programs in Afghanistan and Liberia. Not only did our Professionalization of Afghan CSOs project experience great success in training 40 civil society organizations, but our Afghan Women’s Economic Participation research program spread nationwide to interview women working across Afghanistan. We hired a Myanmar First Fellow to help get the word out about opportunities for the Myanmar economy, reached the $4 million dollar impact mark in Liberia, and also began our 3FP training sessions in Liberia. We have so far held 7 training sessions with over 120 businesses in Liberia, and successfully assisted a business – Liberia Services Corporation – in obtaining credit.
We’re well into 2013 now, but we’re not slowing down. We’ll be exploring opportunities for another African SMI, as well as publishing a report based on our research on Afghan women in the economy and continuing to deliver the full fange of our services to local businesses in Liberia. Our Global Giving campaign is hopping, and we couldn’t be more excited.
We’d like to thank you for your continued support and interest in Building Markets – thanks to you, we can keep creating jobs and sustaining peace by connecting entrepreneurs to new business opportunities.
All the best,
CEO, Building Markets
