Building Markets is partnering with the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and other partners to host Liberia’s first MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises) Conference and Trade Fair in April 2013. The conference will bring together Liberian business owners, international and national buyers and investors, and policy makers. The goal is to improve MSME’s access to markets and finance. This is a unique opportunity for businesses in Liberia to showcase their business to new buyers, investors and the global market.
The Trade Fair portion of the event will highlight the top 75 “Market Changers” – Liberian enterprises that have experienced success and are poised to grow and expand. These “Market Changers” will exhibit their business during the three days of the conference, network with buyers and investors and have the opportunity to participate in a variety of training sessions, including business management; branding, marketing and packaging; and procurement. All businesses will be entered into the first Liberian MSME Awards with a chance to win key contracts.
This is a rare opportunity for MSMEs in Liberia to learn how to better their business and make new business connections. The event will be held from April 24 to the 26 at the Executive Pavilion, Broad and Randall streets in Monrovia.
To be one of the 75 “Market Changers,” businesses must apply by Monday, March 18 at 5 pm. Businesses must be currently registered with the Liberia Business Registry and be caught up on all tax payments. Only businesses in the following sectors can participate: agriculture, catering and lodging, construction, services (such as IT, security, cleaning, consulting, etc), textiles, transportation and logistics, and woodworking and furniture making.
The deadline is fast approaching. Applications can be downloaded at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Web site or they can be picked up in person at any of the following partner locations: MSME division of the MoCI, Business Start-Up Center, Building Markets, FED, IFC, Liberia Better Business Forum, or the Marketplace.

If your business is located outside of Monrovia and Montserrado and you do not have online access, you can pick up and submit your application at the nearest Ministry of Commerce County Inspector.
