Communications Associate

Position Summary

 

Building Markets is seeking a Communications Associate who will play a key role in executing our brand communications strategies. This is a remote position reporting to the Head of Partnerships and will engage with field-based communications team members as needed. The Communications Associate will support the implementation of our social media strategy and the creation of written and digital content that engages stakeholders and target audiences. This role requires excellent writing and editing skills. 

 

Job Description

 

Social Media

  • Write and develop high-impact content that effectively informs and engages target external audiences across social media platforms, like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter;
  • Come up with fresh, exciting ideas for campaigns and daily production by drawing from client stories and research;
  • Create graphics for social channels;
  • Maintain a clear editorial calendar;
  • Conduct community management on social media platforms;
  • Collect and analyze social media metrics to gauge reach, engagement, and other performance measures for posts, accounts, and campaigns, helping to inform results-based decision making;
  • Understand and implement brand guidelines in written, video, and graphic content;
  • Proactively learn Building Markets’ positions on major issues.

 

Digital Communications

  • Manage email campaigns, including a monthly newsletter, through Mailchimp;
  • Manage and contribute to the Building Markets blog;
  • Support website content updates through WordPress.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Communications, or a related field is required;
  • Fluency in English is required;
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in social media strategy, communications, or marketing;
  • Strong writing, editing, communications, storytelling, and organizational skills;
  • Meticulous attention to detail;
  • Proficiency in publishing tools such as Sprout, Falcon, or Hootsuite;
  • Familiarity with publishing to web platforms such as Wix or WordPress;
  • Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds
