Job Summary

Building Markets is seeking an intern to support our data and research work. In particular, the candidate will update a key internal database that helps inform country selection for our programming and present their findings and recommendations. This is a great opportunity for an aspiring data analyst who is interested in private sector development and putting their research/analytic skills to work.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Update indicators in database through research of relevant indices
  • Rank countries and regions based on indicators, weighting, and other factors
  • Produce figures that support rankings
  • Produce presentation with findings and recommendations
  • Other data cleaning, analysis and support may be required but will be agreed upon with candidate.

Reporting Lines

Reports to Development Impact Manager and Data Analyst. Works with Project Directors, as required.

Qualifications and Education

  • Degree in data or computer science
  • Experience developing and managing large databases
  • Comfort with weighting and analysis
  • Expertise working in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and producing charts and figures
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent attention to detail

Compensation

The intern will receive a modest stipend.
