Job Summary

The Regional Officer will represent Building Markets and implement program activities, such as Business Development, Training and other activities determined in conjunction with the country team, in Gaziantep and other regional project locations (namely, Mersin, Hatay, and Sanliurfa). 

Based on Building Markets’ operational model, s/he will identify high-potential local SMEs to add to the organization’s network to receive capacity development and business development services. S/he will expand the organization’s outreach to local stakeholders and partners to support project outcomes. The Regional Officer will be a creative, self-motivated professional who can work independently and collaborate effectively with local and remote colleagues. 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

  • Expand Building Markets’ knowledge and understanding of high growth and job intensive sectors that offer opportunities to refugee and Syrian-owned businesses and individuals in Gaziantep and its region with high Syrian refugee populations;
  • Work with program teams based in Istanbul to contribute local insights and knowledge into the program strategies and planning; 
  • Assess demand and supply sides of the assigned markets to identify quick wins;  
  • Establish relationships with public and private-sector buyers, potential partners, and other stakeholders to support business development outcomes;  
  • Contribute to the expansion of Building Markets’ business network by identifying high-potential SMEs in each assigned city;  
  • Work closely with the research team and verification officers to facilitate introductions to targeted SMEs; 
  • Execute events that showcase local Syrian and refugee-led businesses and facilitate their integration into the local markets;
  • Conduct outreach and liaise with local SMEs to drive learners to Building Markets’ local and virtual training and mentorship programs; 
  • Represent Building Markets at local and regional events; 
  • Collect and share feedback of client SMEs and other stakeholders with program teams and senior managers to inform program strategies.

Reports to: Senior Technical Specialist

Travel

  • Travel regionally in Turkey.
