This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, results-driven leader to oversee Building Markets programming in the Middle East. This includes leading two dynamic teams in Jordan and Turkey who are changing the way buyers and investors do business with refugee and host community small businesses and expanding the Organization’s presence in the region. The Director of Programs will be responsible for overall strategy (at the country and regional level) and ensuring Building Markets exceeds the performance expectations of its clients, partners, and donors. This is a demanding but highly rewarding position.
The Business Development Manager (BDM) reports to the Chief of Party and has a strong external facing role. The ideal candidate is a results-driven manager with excellent interpersonal, communication, and entrepreneurial skills. The BDM is responsible for ensuring that Building Markets is generating value for its clients - institutional buyers, investors, and local companies – as well as its network of Syrian and refugee-owned businesses. The role is a demanding one, overseeing matchmaking strategies and activities such as events, tender distribution, reports, and investee/supplier profiles. The BDM maintains a broad and deep understanding of local market dynamics to ensure Building Markets’ network has access to relevant opportunities.
The Communications Coordinator reports to the Chief of Party, and in line with overall guidance and direction from Headquarters, is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies for the work of Building Markets in Turkey. The incumbent will coordinate the implementation of communications style guides for Building Markets and, as relevant, its partners. The incumbent will also monitor external relations with other organizations, disseminate information, and create awareness about the work of Building Markets and its partners in Turkey.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the administration, finance, human resources, and logistical needs of Building Markets in Turkey. The Operations Manager will maintain systems, reporting, and work flows across the Turkey team that support these requirements. As part of the Operations management role, the incumbent will also serve as the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) focal point, providing regular updates on activity and output metrics for Building Markets and its partners.
The Research Manager reports to the Business Development Manager and leads the development of all research products in line with the Building Markets’ Turkey program strategy. This includes managing data collection processes, overseeing assessments, and reviewing quantitative or qualitative feedback received related to the work of Building Markets and its partners.The incumbent also provides technical input to relevant studies, reports, and proposals, and supports learning efforts within the organization to improve programming and operations through evidence-based feedback from clients and stakeholders. The Research Manager provides technical input to the M&E focal point and works closely with the Communications team.
The Training Coordinator will be responsible for expanding and enhancing all capacity building and training efforts Building Markets undertakes in Turkey. The incumbent will be expected to enhance learner outcomes, monitor user engagement, and coordinate training services. The incumbent will seek to increase the engagement of businesses in training services offered by Building Markets and, as relevant, its partners, by improving material offered, implementing new techniques and strategies, and consistently broadening Building Markets’ reach to Arabic-speaking audiences. The incumbent will coordinate with content providers to ensure that training materials stay relevant and up-to-date, and is expected to incorporate qualitative and quantitative feedback that will inform improvements in training material.
The Country Director (CD) position is an exciting opportunity for a results-driven leader to guide a dynamic and talented team of staff and partners who are working to support job creation, poverty reduction, and economic growth in Myanmar. In particular the CD will have an interest in private sector initiatives that promote environmental sustainability. The CD is expected to successfully oversee a demanding workload that involves direct implementation and closely monitoring the day-to-day activities of the program. The CD will have a successful track record of managing missions in challenging environments along with demonstrated skills in cultivating and maintaining productive external relationships.
The Chief of Party (CoP) is an exciting position for a results-driven leader to guide a dynamic and talented team of staff and partners who are changing the way buyers and investors do business with local entrepreneurs in Turkey – with a particular focus on generating opportunity for vulnerable populations. The CoP will lead the overall coordination and delivery of project services on behalf of Building Markets under a newly awarded grant that expands the organization’s two-year track record supporting over 750 Syrian small businesses. The CoP will have a successful track record of managing large missions in challenging environments along with demonstrated skills in building and maintaining productive external and internal relationships.
Under guidance from the Chief Finance and Administration Officer (CFAO) at Building Markets Headquarters, and in close collaboration with the Chief of Party (CoP), the Director of Finance and Administration will oversee the critical operating functions of the work of Building Markets and its local partners in Turkey, including administration, finance, human resources management, procurement, and logistics. This incumbent is primarily responsible for ensuring 360-degree compliance for the work of Building Markets and its partners within Turkey, and ensuring on time reporting, record keeping, and management of all in-country finance related issues. This is an outstanding opportunity for a finance professional with experience ideally gained through both nonprofit and corporate settings. Successful candidates will have a proven track record, accounting certification or the equivalent, and experience working in the Turkish market.
The Chief Finance and Administration Officer (CFAO) is a key leadership role reporting to the CEO in the areas of Finance, Compliance, and Human Resources. The role requires deep experience in financial management, strong problem solving, and analytical skills. The CFAO is responsible for directing the fiscal and HR functions of Building Markets in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, donor compliance requirements, regulatory environments in our countries of operation, and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the non-profit industry. This is an outstanding opportunity for a finance executive with experience in financial management and leadership, ideally gained through both nonprofit and corporate settings. Successful candidates will have a proven track record, accounting certification, and experience with a non-profit organization that works internationally.
A hands-on digital MacGyver excited about our mission and able to lead our technology-based initiatives. This includes managing our WordPress and Drupal sites, and an internal Salesforce Database, as well as other software and systems. You will enhance the function and design of existing products and resources, and will work with management to refine strategy and improve workflows associated with the Organization’s tech. You must be able to teach, both in-person and virtually, including establishing a common vocabulary to get the entire team on the same page as new processes are implemented and refined. This is a flexible position that will involve 15-21 hours per week. An ideal candidate is able to travel to our NYC office, although some work may be done remotely.
Building Markets seeks a dynamic, data-savvy student currently enrolled in a Graduate program or a recent graduate of a Bachelor’s degree program to help the organization transition to an interactive Salesforce data management solution. The Fellow should be a master of Excel and an expert in consolidating, cleaning, and analyzing very large datasets. The Fellow will report to the Project Officer in NYC. Specific start dates are flexible, but the Fellow would be expected to work part-time for approximately four months. A modest monthly stipend may be available.
