UN Women is now seeking support from a qualified service provider to provide business incubator services within the camp and host communities in Jordan. The incubator will provide women with supporting services for finding markets opportunities for goods locally produced, shifting from the provision of cash for work opportunities to sustainable business creation.
UN Women has commissioned a study to identify a strategy for implementation of a Business Incubator model for both camp and non-camp settings. This strategy will include also the partnership modality for implementation. Through the business incubator, women will be supported to develop their ideas into business models, to assess the market and risks and where business ideas are viable, seed funding will be provided (through grants). In camp settings, this will be done through the women’s oases created by UN Women in Za’atari and Azraq. In host communities, this will be undertaken through partners. Training, skills development and mentoring to women entrepreneurs on identified capacity gaps (business and financial planning, operations management, marketing, fundraising etc.) will be undertaken to build capacities of women entrepreneurs to adapt products and services to better respond to identified local, regional and/or global market demands. Priority will be given to women entrepreneurs who have businesses in non-traditional economic sectors. The exact types of training and mentoring opportunities will be subject to a mapping and assessment once the project launches.
