OBJECTIVE, PURPOSE AND TARGETS

MENARO SBC section will collaborate with a well esteemed academic institution or university

in the region to adopt UNICEFs global and updated SBC course3

(described below). The

MENA region has some universities that provide academic degrees in general psychological

and human behaviour sciences, however the academic institution that is expected to deliver

the regional SBC course will need to demonstrate expertise in providing SBC or related

courses and capacities to deliver international standard training regionally and should be a

trusted source for academic capacity building initiatives in the region.

In summary, the scope of work will cover 2 main components:

1. Translating the online Global Course and uploading it, followed by design and moderation

of a bridge activity which is an online facilitated assessment between the e-course and the

workshop (finalise qualifying participants)

2. Design and implement a face-to-face (F2F) training including field work assignments UNICEFs Global C4D Learning Course is undergoing a re-design and will be offered in

partnerships with regional university partners and tailored to specific regional contexts. This

course, which will be re-named SBC Theory and Practice is a blended learning course

consisting of a self-paced online learning course hosted on UNICEFs learning site called

Agora; facilitated critical assignments; and a two-week interactive workshop with fieldwork.

The UNICEF Global SBC team is working together with regions to tailor this course to regional

contexts in two ways:

1. Adapting the online Agora component of the course to multiple languages, with new

readings and reference material to be selected from SBC related literature of the target

region or language as possible. Where SBC regional literature is not available, translation

of key readings into relevant languages for the region.

2. A model of agreement where the interactive workshop component of the course is offered

in partnership with universities at the regional level. The universities tailor the course to

regional contexts, audiences, and priority issues, keeping the same content of the global

training course while ensuring global standards and achievement of the SBC Theory and

Practice Course learning objectives. The F2F workshop will be an opportunity to apply the

global training content on issues relevant to the MENA regional priority areas.
