Announcing the Timor-Leste Business Portal Top 50 (Third Quarter, July-September 2010).
The Top 10 businesses visited on the Portal are highlighted below and linked to their business cards on the Timor-Leste Business Portal. Of interest is the fact that Timor-Leste’s private security companies are prominently placed, although Gardamor came first, with Maubere second and APAC third. Furthermore, and I am glad to report that a small construction firm named Zunaro in the rural district of Ainaro has made the Top 10.

There are also a few striking things shown by this quarter’s activity.
Firstly, the Tender Directory has lifted off getting the number five spot. This is partially a result of the fact that the Peace Dividend Marketplace projects Tender Distribution Service, run by Eduardo da Costa and Maria Teresa Carvallo are now sending massive amount of bulk SMS tender alerts to companies all across Timor. They can literally bundle up hundreds if not thousands of SMS and fire them all off with a click of a mouse. I would wager we are sending more bulk SMS than any other operator in Timor-Leste; other than of course our beloved Timor Telcom – but we do it cheaper. No doubt about it.
Thirdly, the Oil and Gas industry are tendering voraciously through our service.
Bluewater, who will operate the floating platform for eni’s KITAN project has been most active, but other major subcontractors have been tendering as well.
Here Bluewater was looking for
- lubricants and greases,
- helicopter services,
- Ship Agency Services,
- Inspection Services,
- Medical Support
- just to name a few.
