Dine with Purpose: Dinner at Maydan Benefitting the Emergency Relief Fund
Maydan – 1346 Florida Ave. NW, Washington DCDetails
6:00 pm – Welcome cocktail
7:00 pm – Dinner Seating
Let’s come together around the table.
Join us on Monday, March 6, for a very special dinner celebrating the food, culture, and people of Syria and Türkiye, hosted by our friends at Maydan, an award-winning Middle Eastern restaurant in Washington DC. In the wake of the recent earthquakes, we believe more than ever that food has the power to bring people together & show the best of humanity.
Come to eat, come to learn, and come to show your support for our brothers and sisters in Türkiye and Syria. All ticket proceeds will go to the Building Markets Emergency Relief Fund. Building Markets has been on the ground working with Syrian refugees in Türkiye for six years. In response to the recent humanitarian crisis, we have mobilized a mobile kitchen with the Syrian Restaurant Association and World Central Kitchen in the hardest-hit area Hatay, to provide tens of thousands of meals, many to Syrian refugees displaced yet again. As the country moves to recovery, Building Markets will continue working alongside Syrian refugee and Turkish local business owners to help them rebuild their communities.
The evening will feature a special four-course Tawle menu by Maydan, influenced by Syrian and Turkish cuisine, an incredible wine pairing, and a welcome cocktail. “Tawle” (meaning table in Arabic) is Maydan’s set menu meant to be enjoyed family style, which is how the evening will flow – like a family gathering. During the evening you will hear from Rose Previte, Maydan and Kirby Club owner, about how Türkish and Syrian cuisine has influenced the menus of those restaurants, and from Radha Rajkotia, Building Markets CEO, about the needs of earthquake survivors and how local businesses are supporting recovery. This is a very special evening you won’t want to miss. If you are unable to join but want to support, you can make a donation directly to the Emergency Response Fund.
This event is SOLD OUT.
