Learning Agenda

Overview

Building Markets’ Global Learning Agenda: Expanding Through Learning outlines a strategic framework to deepen understanding and enhance the effectiveness of interventions supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Rooted in two decades of experience across diverse markets, this learning agenda emphasizes five thematic priorities: skill enhancement through training and mentorship, expanding access to finance, fostering enabling environments for SME growth, leveraging technology and AI for digital transitions, and promoting social equity and well-being.

Key challenges addressed include limited data reliability, financial constraints for SMEs, and measuring the broader social impacts of entrepreneurship. The agenda proposes data-driven and mixed-method approaches to refine SME support strategies and expand the evidence base on inclusive economies. With ongoing collaborations and internal and external data synthesis, Building Markets seeks to scale interventions globally, targeting low- and middle-income countries to bridge gaps in SME performance and sustainability.
