Rappi and Building Markets Join Forces to Benefit Entrepreneurs Colombia

February 19, 2024 | Carolina Duran

  • The goal of this initiative is to benefit more than 1,000 SMEs and MSMEs across Valle de Cauca and Cundinamarca.

  • Building Markets and Rappi expect this initiative to expand to other regions in the coming years.

  • To date, Building Markets has positively impacted over 600 MSMEs in Colombia, generating and sustaining more than 2,400 direct and indirect jobs.

Cali, February 18, 2025 - Starting in March 2025, entrepreneurs in Building Markets’ Colombia network will be able to find a strategic partner in Rappi for distributing their products. According to the latest data from Rappi, businesses that are part of the Rappi ecosystem can see sales growth of around 30%.

“At Rappi, we believe in the power of entrepreneurship to transform communities and create opportunities. This alliance with Building Markets allows us to continue driving the growth of MSMEs in Colombia by providing them with access to technology, new markets, and tools to boost their success. Together, we are strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem and contributing to the economic development of the regions,” said Matías Laks, General Manager of Rappi Colombia.

Currently, Rappi is a leader in last-mile delivery, enabling major brands and entrepreneurs to reach more users in innovative ways. The Rappi ecosystem now has more than 30,000 commercial partners, around 60% of which are startups. Through this partnership, Building Markets’ entrepreneurs in Colombia will be able to optimize these processes with preferential rates, achieving greater efficiency and success in their business operations, along with specialized technical support that will increase their visibility and positioning in the digital market.

Through this alliance, Rappi and Building Markets aim to bridge gaps in access to technology and digital markets, allowing more entrepreneurs to strengthen their business models and contribute to the development of their communities.

This collaboration is part of other Rappi initiatives, such as “Emprendedor Apoya A Emprendedor” (Entrepreneur Supporting Entrepreneur), a call that seeks to provide an opportunity for entrepreneurs in categories like beverages, food, beauty, pet care, and hygiene, among others, to become part of Turbo, Rappi’s ultra-fast delivery service, reaching more people in 14 cities across the country.

Building Markets, for its part, is taking another step toward its commitment to inclusive competitiveness. Through this partnership with Rappi, the organization continues to seek opportunities that strengthen the ecosystem of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Colombia, which account for over 90% of businesses and generate around 80% of formal employment in the country. This alliance aims to boost the social and productive inclusion of more than 1,000 small businesses in Valle del Cauca and Cundinamarca, especially those led by women, youth, and vulnerable communities.

According to Carolina Durán, Program Director at Building Markets, “This is a unique opportunity to tap into Rappi’s technology and reach, thus stimulating local economies by enabling entrepreneurs and small businesses to connect their products with millions of users and promote inclusive sourcing.”
