Santiago de Cali, December 3, 2024 – On November 27th, during the launch of the Mi Primera Exportación (My First Export) program as part of the Conexiones de Valor Empresarial (Business Value Connections) initiative, the Santiago de Cali Mayor's Office recognized Building Markets for its contributions to strengthening the business ecosystem. This recognition highlights the pivotal role of Building Markets in bridging gaps between large corporations and small enterprises, fostering the growth of SMEs and MSMEs in strategic economic sectors of the region.

In 2024, Building Markets significantly contributed to Cali's economic recovery, assisting over 100 local SMEs in increasing their visibility, sales, and strategic connections. Through its focus on promoting inclusive economies, these businesses are becoming engines of social impact and sustainable growth.

At the Conexiones de Valor Empresarial event, Building Markets facilitated the participation of 85 businesses, representing 25% of all participants and contributing 30% of the initial pipeline of registered deals. These companies held at least five meetings with anchor buyers, generating business expectations exceeding $10 million per SME—showcasing the tangible impact of its strategic connection model.

Sectors and Reach of the Building Markets Network:

  • 60% belong to the Food and Beverage sector, emphasizing healthy and sustainable products.

  • 20% operate in Commerce, showcasing versatility in goods and services.

  • 10% are in Textiles and Apparel, focusing on design and quality.

  • 10% participate in Recycling and Aquaculture, promoting sustainability and innovation.

Although most of these businesses are based in Cali, over 15% operate in municipalities such as Ginebra and Palmira, extending the impact across the Valle del Cauca region. This regional reach underscores Building Markets' commitment to supporting SMEs beyond the capital, creating opportunities for vulnerable communities and fostering more inclusive economies.

Looking ahead to 2025, Building Markets will remain a strategic ally for small businesses through programs like Mi Primera Exportación, solidifying these enterprises as key players in Colombia's economic transformation.
