Global Head of Commercial Bank Sustainability and ESG, Citi

Rashmi is the Global Head of Citi Commercial Bank Sustainability and ESG, where she is responsible for driving growth in Citi’s Commercial Bank by catalyzing sustainable financing and advisory to existing clients and supporting new sustainable economy clients, the enablers for a transition to a sustainable and low-carbon economy.

Prior to this role, Rashmi was in the Banking, Capital Market, and Advisory division of the bank, responsible for managing Citi’s EMEA balance sheet and leading the client coverage effort for the EMEA Sponsor (Private Equity) owned and Leverage Finance clients, onboarding 50+ clients for the franchise.

Rashmi also worked in Citi’s Investment Banking division in New York and London for seven years. In these roles, she worked on 40+ transactions, including financing/re-financing, buy-and-sell-side advisory, and capital markets assignments across Industries.

Rashmi is a business sponsor of Citi’s Asian, Black, and Multicultural Heritage Inclusion network in the UK and has acted as a Co-chair for 5+ years. The Network focuses on Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic development and inclusion, with 1200+ active members in London. She leads efforts on the award-winning Mentoring program, including reverse mentoring, Business Skills Workshops, Community outreach programs, and the Inspire and Lead sessions.

In 2020, Rashmi was shortlisted with a featured interview for the Women in Banking and Finance Future Leader Award. She has also been recognized as an EMPower Top 50 Ethnic Minority Future Leader Role Model (Sponsored by Financial Times & Yahoo Finance) for three consecutive years and featured in the ‘High & Mighty’ power list of India Gazette London, showcasing influential people in the India-UK corridor.

Rashmi holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance and Economics (magna cum laude) from Rutgers University and has completed her executive education at Columbia Business School. Outside work, Rashmi enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children and loves running, swimming, and the outdoors.
