The Circular Economy Toolkit: Empowering SMEs Toward Sustainable Development

This edition of Building Markets’ small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) Snapshot focuses on Syrian- owned businesses' access to financial services. The analysis is based on regularly updated surveys with 2,547 SMEs in Türkiye, the vast majority (92.8%) of which are owned by and employ Syrians. Nearly 75% of these businesses report access to finance constraints.

The Circular Economy Toolkit: Empowering MSMEs Toward Sustainable Development was developed for Building Markets by Eva Morales of Circular Advisors (2022).

This Toolkit was made possible with funding from The Coca-Cola Foundation for Building Markets activities that support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the recycling sector to increase waste diversion in Myanmar. Additional donor support is attributed to the U.S. State Department Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), who provides funding for Building Markets’ program in Türkiye, as the circular economy provides the exciting potential of new economic models for refugee entrepreneurship.
