[Bogota, 7th March] – Building Markets, a global NGO with operations in Colombia, Türkiye, and Myanmar, is thrilled to announce it has been awarded a new grant from the Nasdaq Foundation, building on a commitment to foster growth and sustainability for Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) throughout Colombia. With the Nasdaq Foundation’s support, Building Markets is poised to expand its impact and provide critical support to women entrepreneurs in Valle del Cauca and Cundinamarca.

The grant award from the Nasdaq Foundation marks a significant milestone in Building Markets’ mission to address the root causes of economic exclusion for MSMEs from marginalized communities. With Nasdaq Foundation’s support, Building Markets will provide training, mentorship, and matchmaking opportunities specifically catered to the needs of women entrepreneurs.

“We are excited to join forces with the Nasdaq Foundation to empower women entrepreneurs in Colombia,” said Carolina Duran, Program Director for Latin America. “This partnership underscores our shared commitment to driving inclusive economic growth and fostering resilient communities. With Nasdaq Foundation’s support, we aim to expand our reach and amplify our impact, enabling women leaders to thrive in today’s dynamic business landscape.”

Building Markets’ initiatives have already made a significant impact on local businesses across Colombia. Since its launch in 2023, Building Markets has registered more than 1,000 MSMEs and published over 400 opportunities and 400 MSMEs’ business profiles on its digital platform, facilitating new connections between buyers and suppliers. Additionally, Building Markets has already provided technical support to more than 200 MSMEs, equipping them with the skills and resources needed to succeed in competitive markets.

With the support of the Nasdaq Foundation, Building Markets aims to build upon these achievements and drive sustainable growth for women-led MSMEs in Colombia. By fostering innovation, facilitating access to markets, and promoting entrepreneurship for women entrepreneurs, Building Markets is unlocking new opportunities and creating lasting impact for women in Colombia.
